How to get lost in the desert



   The desert seemed vast. You know they always say, the desert spans this and that, and it takes like the third of the world or whatever but..this desert is vast,nothing but sand as far as I can see. Perfect! You know,a great place for a young guy to get stranded in,no signal,battery slowly dying on my,now useless phone and not a soul in sight. Great! Well,considering I am in the middle of nowhere, I might as well start walking in some kind of direction and hope to God,or whoever is watching,USA,good old USA,Chinese satellite,anyone,I will take anyone or anything..hope I find something. Guess I will keep on walking,might find some water,maybe some road or even better,civilisation. Oh glorious civilisation,how I wish I would not get sick of it and oh how I need it right now. Whatever,too late now,I shall find you and cherish you this time for sure.
   I wish I had some music or something but no way I’m using the battery on my phone to play a couple of songs only for it to die on me when I need it. I guess it’s silence and lots, and lots of walking for me. Joy! I guess I could use some exercise.Claire,Mom,happy now?
My greatest enemy and I,meet one on one. Ok,brain,throw it at me. If there is a time to contemplate and see all my faults and how I could have done everything differently,and find my new calling in life..now is the time. Go!.....Anything?...I guess I will wait until I am actually going insane,I bet then it will wake up. Hmmmm,the sand is quite hot,thank God I got these new sneakers couple of days ago so that I can mess them up being lost in the desert. In all seriousness though,it’s pretty hot down here...Damn! I should really find some water or a shadow.
   Oh,hey!A lizard!Hey,lil buddy!..What if he’s poisonous?He seems to be more scared of me. What if he’s heading for water?I guess I will follow him,don’t have anywhere else to go.HaHa,oh God it begins.
I will call you,Charlie!I don’t know Charlie,do not look at me like that,you just look like a Charlie to me!Go on!Go on my lizard friend,guide me to the refreshing waters of life!Cmon!Moooove!..Here you go.I thought it was scared of me,didn’t know lizards are so lazy.


   Soooooo,it’s been half hour,hour?two?I don’t know.Surprise surprise my phone died and I am still following Charles as he is running away from me.Might be that I am making circles here but it all looks the same to me!This desert!!!!! Wait!A tree?Tree?TREE!!!!Oh glorious shadow,come here, you!Let me bask in your cooling darkness,let’s be friends, oh how I missed you!..You would think in the desert there are a lot of mountains and rocks..and seems like there are plenty, oh yeah but all at a distance from me!Just my luck!But,it seems like now it is my luck and I finally got my long awaited shadow,thank you Charlie.Charlie?He’s gone..What if it’s a sign from God and he guided me to safety?Mirage?Am I going insane in this forsaken barren wasteland?!!!Anybody!!!???Either way thank you Charlie,bud. Guess I will just lie down here,cool off just for a sec.

   And then I fell asleep. Next thing I know, I am woken up by your guys,uniform and all and now I am sitting in your office,so that is that.
-So what were you doing in the desert?-the man in his fifties asked with a deep voice.
-Uhmm,well..you see..
   The young man approached the table..
-Sir,You gotta see this…
The man with the deep voice and the young officer exchanged glances,while I sat there with a nervous smile,knowing EXACTLY what they found…

   I´m so nervous. This is my first time. Hands shaking uncontrollably. Never really felt this way. It is like they are not my own. Sweat dripping all over me. All over my face and down my brow. At the top of the hill

   Old wooden church at the top of the hill. Some people say cultists gather at night to worship the demons. There were tales of sacrifice,people captured and kept there. Chanting has been heard from a distance by some and blood has been found in the area.Whether you believe it or not it seems like something,something is going on there. Some people speak of salvation and say that church does a great thing,helps people. Maybe it does but nobody speaks openly about what they see or hear at night and now. Now it is time to find out. The angry crowd gathered outside the church at night,they are determined to find out what is happening in their house of worship at night,whether the rumours are true and if they are,the cultists,those who abuse the faith will pay.
